The 2012 Audi quattro Cup World Final, held at the stunning Arabella Golf Club in the Western Cape, saw a nail biting finish on the final day in both Group A and Group B.
For the second year running the competition took advantage of the revolutionary VPAR live Golf Scoring, allowing the players to follow the live leaderboard and setting up a thrilling finale for those on the course, spectators in the clubhouse and supporters live online in their home countries.
In Group B the home advantage was certainly with the South African pairings, both Blignaut / Uys and St Clair / Hollick were neck and neck throughout and after 35 holes their scores were still level. With VPAR live scoring everyone on the course and in the clubhouse knew it was all down to the final hole.
Blignaut / Uys from South Africa held their nerve to clinch a superb victory as the pairing of St Clair / Hollick fell agonisingly close. The winning pair both praised VPAR which allowed them to plan their game and clinch the final hole. Nice Uys said “I think VPAR should be implemented at every golf club. It's fantastic being able to know where you stand”.
In Group A the Australians, Friede and Rubenstein, dominated in round one to position themselves at the top of the leaderboard with a 4 shot lead over Team USA, Carter Gray and Jon Davis.
That said it was certainly not over as team USA made a charge on hole 14 of the final round and managed to bring it down to the last hole with being one shot down with one to play to pile the pressure onto the Australians. Some exceptional golf saw the Australians birdie the final hole leaving team USA with too much to do. Giora Friede said "VPAR is fantastic it makes it real and means what you know what you need to do in order to win. It brings the feeling of PGA Tour quality to amateur events."
A thrilling final with VPAR Live Golf Scoring providing the ultimate golfing experience.
